According to a report from Sports Zone, Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to wait a year to sign Ibrahima Konaté (26) from Liverpool on a free transfer. The France international defender’s contract at Anfield is set to expire at the end of the season.

Konaté has received an offer to extend his deal with the Premier League champions, but is disappointed with the latest contract proposed to him. The 26-year-old is pushing for a higher base salary to extend his terms with the Merseyside outfit, The Guardian understands. Liverpool want to pen the defender to a new contract, but are insistent that they will not overpay to keep his services.

The Frenchman’s contract situation has attracted the interest of clubs across the continent, including Les Parisiens. Konaté is a childhood PSG fan, having grown up in the French capital. Sports Zone report that the UEFA Champions League winners’ dream of a high-quality defensive roster and that the former RB Leipzig defender would be pivotal to that.
