PSG will be hoping to extend their advantage at the top of Ligue 1 on Friday night as they face third-placed Monaco as the French top flight returns for the first time after the international break. Luis Enrique will be forced to make changes in defence and midfield for the top-of-the-table clash as he will be without his captain Marquinhos who has suffered a hamstring injury.

This means that Kylian Mbappé should deputise for Marqunihos as Les Parisiens’ captain against his former club on Friday night. According to Le Parisien, the absence of Marquinhos could see Nordi Mukiele make his third start of the season with Lucas Hernández expected to move into the left centre-back berth in place of the Brazilian international.

PSG will also be without Warren Zaïre-Emery who suffered an ankle injury on his France debut. Therefore, Manuel Ugarté should form a double pivot in midfield with Fabian Ruiz as Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha feature out wide for Luis Enrique’s team. Randal Kolo Muani is also expected to join Kylian Mbappé in attack as PSG look to at least temporarily extend the gap at the top of the table to 4 points.

PSG likely XI to face Monaco:

Gianluigi Donnarumma; Achraf Hakimi, Milan Škriniar, Lucas Hernández, Nordi Mukiele; Ousmane Dembélé, Manuel Ugarté, Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha; Randal Kolo Muani, Kylian Mbappé
