Paris Saint-Germain will get their 2024/25 UEFA Champions League campaign underway on Wednesday night when they host Girona at the Parc des Princes, however, they will do so without first-choice goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Donnarumma suffered a minor injury during Saturday’s 3-1 win over Stade Brestois, meaning that summer signing Matvey Safonov is set to come in and make his PSG debut.
Both Warren Zaire-Emery and Vitinha were injured over the international break and neither midfielder was included in the matchday squad to face Brest over the weekend. However, Zaire-Emery returned to first-team training on Sunday, with Vitinha doing the same on Monday. Both could be involved, Zaire-Emery likely from the bench.
Luis Enrique isn’t expected to spring any surprises with PSG set to line up once again with a front three of Bradley Barcola, Marco Asensio and Ousmane Dembélé.
