A report from RMC Sport tonight has analysed the level of player power at PSG, with the outlet explaining that manager Christophe Galtier faces a difficult balancing act when it comes to keeping his high-profile players onside. The former Lille coach is reportedly much more lenient with the star players, according to sources at the club, with some pointing to a link with sporting advisor Luís Campos’ heated exchange with the players after the defeat at Monaco last month.

Galtier, who would not hesitate to lock horns with his most important players at his former club if the need arose, has reportedly never done so at PSG – and the “power” that some senior players have is said to have played a part.

The apparent difficulty of handling the dressing room best illustrated by an anecdote recounted to RMC Sport by various sources. After the Champions League last 16 second leg defeat to Real Madrid – in which a late, quick-fire Karim Benzema hat-trick saw PSG give up their lead – the players had nevertheless planned a night out in the Spanish capital. Even after the game, certain players wanted to stay, and according to the report club president Nasser Al Khelaifi needed to personally intervene to get them to board the plane back to Paris.
