L’Éuipe report this afternoon that – as initially indicated by Brazilian outlet Globo – that Qatar Sports Investments, the owners of PSG, have entered preliminary talks to buy a minority stake in Santos.

QSI had already acquired a 30% share in Portuguese side Braga last summer, and were said to be interested in buying Málaga as well, although the Andalusians have since been relegated to the third tier of Spanish football.

The Qatari government-owned investment fund has been looking to expand its network, with a move for an unnamed Belgian club also in the making. QSI are also interested in investing in the South American market, with a share of the São Paulo-based club emerging as an option.

Parallel to their efforts to diversify their portfolio, the Nasser Al Khelaifi-led fund have also ostensibly opened the door to a potential minority investor in Paris Saint-Germain, having had full ownership of the Ligue 1 leaders since 2011.
