This match only came to life in the 78th minute, when Denis Bouanga turned in Miguel Trauco’s cross to give Saint-Etienne the lead, leaving PSG - without the suspended Neymar Jr. - staring at yet another damaging home defeat. They had lost their last three on the bounce at the Parc des Princes in the league but this time they drew level immediately from the restart as Kylian Mbappé expertly controlled a long ball forward by Ander Herrera before finishing past Etienne Green in the away goal (79’).

PSG then completed the turnaround as Mbappé converted a penalty three minutes from time after he had been fouled in the box by Green, but Saint-Etienne were not finished and drew level a minute into added time when Sergio Rico - standing in for the injured Keylor Navas in the home goal - could only turn a Bouanga shot out into the path of Romain Hamouma, who had an easy finish.

However, with the game approaching the end of the five allotted added minutes, Angel Di Maria crossed from the right for substitute Icardi to head past Green and make it 3-2, giving Paris a potentially huge victory in the title race.

THE PLAYER: Mauro Icardi

It has been said that Icardi could leave Paris at the end of the season, but if he does go the Argentine may well have tipped the scales PSG’s way in the title race with his last-gasp goal here, just his sixth of the season in Ligue 1.

THE STAT: 125

Mbappé’s brace means he has now scored 125 goals for PSG in 165 matches in all competitions.
