PSG optimistic over Sergio Ramos facing Bayern Munich despite adductor injury | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain are optimistic Sergio Ramos will be fit to face Bayern Munich in two weeks, according to L’Equipe.

Ramos suffered an adductor injury against Montpellier in their Ligue 1 encounter. The legendary defender had to leave the pitch minutes after Kylian Mbappe, who also suffered an injury.

Ramos will likely be back for the Champions League game against the Bavarians, unlike Mbappe, who will be out for three weeks. The French youngster is carrying a thigh injury.

The defender will miss the league fixture against Toulouse on Sunday afternoon but will undergo tests after that to determine where he is in recovery.

The 36-year-old suffered an injury-laden campaign last season with Les Parisiens. There were rumours the club was considering selling him.

However, the former Spanish international has returned to fitness and been a regular for Christophe Galtier’s side this campaign.

Ramos has made 19 appearances in the league this season, starting 18 times. The former Real Madrid captain has helped his side keep four clean sheets. He has also started all of their Champions League games this campaign.

His contract expires at the end of the season, and the club is currently pondering whether to extend his deal.

PSG sporting adviser Luis Campos has tied Marco Verratti and Marquinhos to new contracts. Rumours are that Lionel Messi and Ramos should be next in line for a renewal.

Ramos wants his contract renewed, but that is reportedly not his only objective. The former Sevilla defender wants to return to the national team set-up.

He did not join Luis Enrique’s La Roja squad for the 2022 World Cup, but he is targeting a return, and with his consistency this season, it is not impossible.

New Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente may look favourably at his country’s most-capped player to bring some experience to his set-up.
