In the wake of Paris Saint-Germain's 1-1 UEFA Champions League Matchday 3 draw away to Benfica, Parisian coach Christophe Galtier announced the absence of Nuno Mendes through injury for a number of upcoming games.

PSG coach Christophe Galtier has announced that Nuno Mendes will be out with a thigh injury for the next few games after his side's 1-1 draw with Benfica in their third Champions League match. A spectacular first-time strike from Lionel Messi (22') - set up by some dazzling interplay with Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr - put Paris in front after a spirited start by Benfica, but the capital club failed to pull clear and a Danilo Pereira own-goal (41') meant that Galtier and his charges had to make do with a point. 'Out for several games' Paris remain atop Champions League Group A, undefeated on seven points, level with Benfica, but will have to do without the services of Portuguese left-back Nuno Mendes, the Parisian coach saying after the match that the young Portuguese suffered "a major muscle incident" and that he will be "out for several games". Current Ligue 1 Uber Eats leaders PSG - for whom this injury comes in addition to the long-term injury absences of Presnel Kimpembe and Renato Sanches - travel to Reims on Saturday for Ligue 1 Uber Eats Round 10, then host Benfica next Tuesday in the Champions League, before the Classique against OM on Sunday 16 October.
