PSG and Sporting CP club officials will come to terms on a transfer agreement that will see the Portuguese powerhouse haul in a €40 million fee for Mendes. The Portuguese international joined PSG during last year’s summer transfer window on a €7 million one-season loan stint that also included a purchase option.

Barring any major changes in the coming month, Mendes will be on PSG’s roster come the first matchday of the 2022-2023 season.

Mendes emerged as PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino’s go-to starter at the left-back position this season, which has included 18 starts in Ligue 1 play. He has not yet scored in league play, and he still sits at one assist recorded through 27 such matches played.

For the moment, PSG will have three left-backs on its roster for next season with Mendes, Juan Bernat, and Layvin Kurzawa.
