No fixture has provided more goals in Ligue 1 over the past three seasons than Paris Saint-Germain vs Lille, with the two teams both scoring in each of the last five matches over this period. Let’s take a look back at some classic clashes between Les Dogues and Les Parisiens, a fixture that has always provided the drama.
PSG 1-1 Lille: Ligue 1, December 2023
Whilst it didn’t provide goals galore, the most recent clash between PSG and Lille certainly provided the drama at the end of the match. Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring with a penalty in the second half, but Jonathan David’s injury-time header saw the home side snatch a point off the league leaders.
PSG 4-3 Lille: Ligue 1, February 2023
This one had both the goals and the drama. Kylian Mbappé once again opened the scoring, before Neymar followed up with a bundled finish several minutes later. Lille fought back with a goal through Bafodé Diakité before Jonathan David equalised from the penalty spot. Lille then rocketed in front with a fiery finish from Jonathan Bamba to make it 3-2. Yet, Kylian Mbappé would equalise in the 87th minute to make it 3-3. It set up a grandstand finish, where Lionel Messi curled in a free-kick in the 95th minute to win the match for Les Parisiens.
Lille 1-7 PSG, Ligue 1, August 2022
Les Parisiens obliterated Lille at Stade Pierre Mauroy, beginning with the quickest goal scored in Ligue 1 through Kylian Mbappé after only nine seconds. The France captain would go on to score a hatrick, with Neymar scoring a brace alongside goals from Achraf Hakimi and Lionel Messi.
PSG 0-1 Lille, Ligue 1, April 2021
Lille would beat PSG on their way to their first-ever Ligue 1 title win in the 2020-2021 season. Jonathan David’s goal in the 20th minute put Les Dogues ahead with a lofted finish, as Lille held out their lead after two red cards in added time: one for Neymar and for Tiago Djalo.
Lille 5-1 PSG, Ligue 1, April 2019
Les Dogues halted a potential PSG title win in emphatic fashion as Christophe Galtier’s Lille would romp ahead with goals from Nicolas Pépé, Jonathan Bamba, José Fonte, and Gabriel. It was PSG’s heaviest defeat in the QSI era up until that point.
