PSG Files Letter with UEFA Over Alleged Racism by Barcelona Fans Toward Star Player | OneFootball

After the Champions League quarterfinal second leg on Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain sent a letter to UEFA to report incidents of racism involving certain FC Barcelona fans directed at Ousmane Dembélé.

The capital club defeated the Catalan side 4-1 on Tuesday night at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys and the man of the match was Dembélé. The Frenchman was back in Barcelona after his departure last summer, and he was not a popular figure on the pitch.

Dembélé was booed and whistled throughout the game, but it didn’t affect his performance. The 26-year-old scored a goal late in the first half and generated the penalty kick chance in the second half, which Kylian Mbappé converted.

Although booing and whistling, RMC Sport reports that Barcelona supporters crossed the line with acts of racism, resulting in PSG’s letter to UEFA.

According to the French media outlet, earlier this week, the 26-year-old French forward fell victim to racism. In response, PSG decided to send a letter to UEFA to condemn the racist acts and chants directed at their player by some Barcelona fans.

The information doesn’t reveal which section of supporters was targeting Dembélé, but more information should emerge in the coming days.
