PSG Duo Echoes Real Madrid Legends Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, Claims Former Player | OneFootball

João Neves has impressed in two Ligue 1 matches with Paris Saint-Germain. The 19-year-old has recorded four assists and earning praise for his play and one former player sees shads of two Real Madrid greats in him and Vitinha.

Neves came off the bench in the Parisians’ 4-0 victory last weekend, where the Portugal international recorded two assists. On Friday night at the Parc des Princes, the teenager demonstrated that his performance against Le Havre was no fluke.

The midfielder recorded another pair of assists in PSG’s 6-0 win over Montpellier Hérault SC. Vitinha had two stellar performances to start the 2024-25 season and is building off his impressive campaign last season.

Although the sample size is two games, former French footballer Didier Domi has high praise for PSG’s Portuguese midfield duo and notes what other pair of these two players remind him of.

“Vitinha and Neves have the strength and skill to play in any midfield position,” Domi told Le Parisien. “They remind me of Thiago Motta and Marco Verratti, or even Luka Modric and Toni Kroos if we stretch the comparison a bit. But that’s the point—these two are pure football through and through.”

Neves also put himself in Ligue 1 history with how he has performed in his first two Ligue 1 matches. The former SL Benfica standout has set a record for the most assists (four) in his first two Ligue 1 matches, surpassing Neymar’s previous record of three.
