Paris Saint-Germain could take legal action against Patrice Evra after the former Manchester United defender allegedly uttered a homophobic slur in a video attacking the Ligue 1 club, report ESPN.

Evra has been involved in something of a feud with PSG ever since he celebrated United’s Champions League victory wildly in the Parc des Princes stands earlier this month.

After the game, Evra’s former Monaco team-mate Jérôme Rothen accused the ex-full back of a “lack of respect” to which Evra replied: “Next time I see you, I’m going to slap you in the face.”

Then on Sunday, the former France international defender took things a step further.

While being filmed in the back of a taxi, Evra is alleged to have said: “Here it is Manchester. Stop supporting teams who will never win.

“Even my cousin who is in the front [of the car] is pissed off. Paris, you are some f*****s, some f*****s, I’m telling you. We [United] put our D team [against PSG] and we did you. Some kids played – they used to clean my boots. They don’t even have sperm [yet]. Paris, you are some pussies.

“I will fucking slap you in the face.”

Evra was reportedly in Paris at the opening of a barbershop by Paul Pogba’s brother Florentin when the video was made and on Tuesday evening, PSG issued an official response.

“PSG strongly condemns Patrice Evra’s homophobic insults towards the club, its representatives, and its former player [Jérôme Rothen], in a video broadcast across social networks yesterday [Monday],” the statement read.

“These remarks deeply shocked a Club very attached to the values of respect and openness towards each other.

“The fight against homophobia and all forms of discrimination is at the heart of PSG’s actions and values, which has worked alongside Rouge Direct [formerly Paris Foot Gay] to fight homophobia, as well as Sportitude against all forms of racism.

“PSG will support any initiative taken by associated partners Rouge Direct, Sportitude and SOS Racisme.”

Later on Tuesday, Evra then issued a response of his own via a video posted to his official Twitter account.

“I am here to clarify, a massive, massive misunderstanding but we have to shut it down really quickly,” said the 37-year-old.

“I made a video, as a joke, as a friend, and the French media, they take it, because I use the word ‘pede’, and they translate it as I am against the gay people.

“I am not homophobic because you know who I am, I’m ‘Mr. Love This Game’. I love everyone.

“If I offended someone, or I hurt someone, I really apologise, but it’s not my intention, they [the French media] are just trying to put me down.

“I stand for equality, you have to be free, whatever you do in life, I would never judge anyone, my mum raised me and educated me that way, and you know what? Only God can judge me.”

Evra went on to accuse the French media of twisting his words.

“We should be together, united, to make the world a better place. So please, stop this negativity, because you will never shut me down, okay?” he continued.

“This is a massive message for the French media because they always twist my words.

“You know guys, I’m not playing anymore with the national team, so what’s wrong with you? Is your life so boring?

“Why are you trying always to make the buzz, making my video everywhere? I don’t want you to even put my video [up] of positive energy, because you are such a negative people.

“So please, guys, stop it, and you know what? I don’t love your game, but I love this game!”
