Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Lionel Messi will leave the club at the end of the Ligue 1 season.

The Argentine’s contract was set to expiry at the end of June with the French champions and the World Cup winner deciding to extend their relationship.

It brings an end to the 35-year-old’s successful spell in the French capital, where he won the Ligue 1 title in both his seasons at the club.

Messi scored 32 goals and provided 35 assists in 74 appearances for PSG while also helping Argentina to lift a historic World Cup earlier on in the 22/23 campaign.

Reports have linked Messi to an emotional return to Barcelona as well as a possible move to Saudi Arabia in recent weeks but no official decision has been made on his future.
