Despite PSG claiming a 4-1 victory over Rennes boss Thomas Tuchel was furious with officials during the game.

Visiting striker M’Baye Niang was allowed to stay on the field despite a wild challenge on defender Thilo Kehrer and handed only a yellow card by the referee after footage was reviewed.

The PSG bench were rightly shocked by the challenge, with replays showing Kehrer’s lower leg bending as Niang struck his ankle.

Tuchel was incensed, with his furious reaction in the tunnel caught on camera.

“Why do we have VAR? Why do we have VAR? Why?” he shouted. “If it’s a penalty, if it’s not a penalty. If it’s a red card, not a red card. There’s no point looking at VAR anymore, it’s ridiculous.”

Striker Edinson Cavani was seen to back his manager, and complained: “Hey ref. What are you going to whistle for? With television (images) and you (make decisions) like that? That’s not possible.”

PSG’s victory saw them go 13 points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table, with two games in hand.
