Paris Saint Germain coach Christophe Galtier has said that he is disappointed that the club did not sign a defender in the summer after their failed pursuit of Inter’s Milan Skriniar, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by FCInternews today, the French coach was talking during a press conference and he was asked about the summer transfer window that recently ended.

The Ligue 1 champions spent much of the summer chasing Inter defender Milan Skriniar as well as other targets at the back but they did not end up getting the Slovakian or anyone else of note for that area of the pitch.

He admitted that it was a disappointment not to sign a defender but he knows that the club did all that they could to get one.

“We were disappointed not to have taken a central defender to add to the squad. We would have liked to have had this player, as well as a striker with another profile to unlock certain situations.

“It is very rare to be satisfied with a market, but I know that the president (Al-Khelaifi) did his best to satisfy us.”

They are still trying to sign Milan Skriniar on a free transfer given he is nearly out of contract.
