PSG boss Luis Enrique explains why all the pressure is on Barcelona in CL tie | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has provided his take on why he feels the pressure is very much on upcoming opponents Barcelona to advance from the tie between the two clubs.

PSG, of course, will kick their European campaign back into gear this coming Wednesday.

After advancing beyond Real Sociedad in the competition’s Last-16, a Champions League quarter-final tie with another of La Liga’s clubs, namely Barcelona, now lies in wait.

The capital giants will head into proceedings at the Parc des Princes in the knowledge that a first-leg advantage could prove absolutely crucial, when it comes to their chances of marching on to the final four.

Some, in turn, would consider the pressure to be very much on a PSG yet to taste glory in the Champions League heading into Wednesday night.

One individual evidently of a different viewpoint, as alluded to above, though, comes in the form of Luis Enrique.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Spanish tactician Enrique was drawn on suggestions that the lack of European silverware in his side’s storied past means that the heat is firmly on them to send Barcelona packing.

But PSG’s boss instead shifted the pressure to former club Barca, owing to their prestige and history on the continent:

“We’re on target. The objective was to reach the Coupe de France final and win the league. There’s no pressure in the Champions League. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Barcelona have won five Champions Leagues, while we haven’t won any. It’s impossible for them to be more excited than us. That’s impossible. And for us, the pressure is certainly not there. It’s a total ambition.”
