Paris Saint-Germain angered their own supporters with a lacklustre display in a deserved victory for Stade Rennais in Ligue 1 on Sunday.

Scorers: Toko Ekambi 45′, Kalimuendo 48′

PSG dominated the first half, with Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi both forcing Rennes goalkeeper Steve Mandanda into good saves.

But it was the visitors who took the lead against the run of play on the stroke of half-time. A Benjamin Bourigeaud ball into the box found Karl Toko Ekambi, who took the ball down on his chest before firing home.

PSG were booed off by their own fans at the break, but their situation went from bad to worse when Rennes went 2-0 up early in the second half.

This time it was their former player Arnaud Kalimuendo who scored after he was tee’d up by a superb Lesley Ugochukwu assist.

The 21-year-old refused to celebrate as jeers rang out around the Parc des Princes.

Christoph Galtier brought Renato Sanches and Hugo Ekitiké off the bench in the second half, but neither could make an impact as PSG fell to their fifth league defeat of the season.

The champions remain nine points ahead of Lens at the top of the table, while Rennes are up to fifth.
