PSG have approached Lionel Messi about a new contract.

Marca says PSG have approached Messi to negotiate a one year contract extension.

In the past it's been inaccurately reported by some members of the media that there's a clause in his current contract, that allows both parties to extend the relationship between the two of them, but this is false.

Barcelona great Messi hasn't been presented with an official contract offer yet, but the club is showing its willingness to make it happen.

The idea of Messi is to wait until after Qatar 2022, which will be played by the end of the year. Afterwards he will take some time to analyse his future.

PSG's motivation is driven as much by off field success as what Messi has offered on the pitch.

This was PSG president Nasser al Khelaifi's most profitable year since taking over the Paris giants, he raked in $700m, a number never seen before the Argentinian's arrival.
