Sergio Ramos is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

The Spanish centre-back will end his time in Ligue 1 after two seasons, as the French club announced his departure in an official message on Friday night.

Ramos, on his own social media channels, wrote: “Tomorrow will be a special day. Tomorrow I’ll say goodbye to another stage of my life. Goodbye to PSG.

“I don’t know many places you can feel at home but PSG, its fans and Paris have certainly been one of them for me.”

Ramos becomes a free agent

Ramos, who admitted that it had been “a pleasure” to wear the PSG shirt, had put his renewal on hold. Although Nasser Al Khelaïfi and Luis Campos were satisfied with his performance in the Champions League tie against Bayern Munich, the reality is that negotiations between the two parties were at an impasse, with no real progress.

Ramos will become a free agent and can join a new club on a free transfer this summer. This Saturday, against Clermont, he will bid farewell to the club’s supporters.

In his first year in the French capital, the former Real Madrid captain was unable to have a consistent run due to injuries. In his second season, he fully recovered from his setbacks and emerged as a leader both on and off the pitch.

In 2022-23, the 37-year-old has made 44 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
