The powers that be at French giants Paris Saint-Germain have come to the definitive decision to call off their pursuit of Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have this weekend provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes at the Parc des Princes.

As those of a Barcelona persuasion will be aware, recent weeks had seen links between Blaugrana midfielder De Jong and PSG reemerge in force.

As much came amid claims that the French champions were readying a fresh assault for a player who has been admired by the club brass for several years now.

As alluded to above, though, those of a Barcelona persuasion eager to see De Jong stay put this summer need not fret.

This comes amid confirmation that PSG have been forced to call time on their efforts to land the Dutchman, at least for the time being.

The Ligue 1 giants are aware that a conscious push to align the club’s accounts with Financial Fair Play rules will be required this summer.

With Napoli talisman Victor Osimhen – who boasts a hefty €120 million price-tag – having been earmarked as their no.1 target, the funds simply won’t be available to launch a big-money assault for De Jong, too.
