Promising Arsenal 14yo scores for England u17 team | OneFootball

Arsenal youngster Max Dowman scored in a comfortable victory for the England u17s on Wednesday, with Theo Julienne also featuring.

Having made his debut for the England u16s earlier this year, 14-year-old Max Dowman stepped up to the England u17s this month, and he was handed a start against Mexico on Wednesday.

The Arsenal youngster ended up giving his team the lead, after Wesley Okoduwa was wrestled to the ground by a Mexican defender to concede a penalty.

Dowman stepped up and chipped the spot-kick down the middle to give his team the lead.

The floodgates opened, and Andre Dike made it 2-0 in the 39th minute, before a 10-minute brace from Harry Howell made it 4-0 by the hour mark.

Dowman was withdrawn immediately after that goal, and Arsenal’s Theo Julienne was introduced for the final 20 minutes of the game.

Max Jenner of Aston Villa added a fifth goal in the dying minutes, and the friendly match finished 5-0.

Arsenal goalkeeper Jack Porter was also called up by the England u17s, but he wasn’t involved on this occasion. Perhaps he’ll get a game when the team play Israel on Saturday, September 7th or Germany on Tuesday, September 10th.

In other Arsenal academy news, Brayden Clarke played 79 minutes as a centre-back for the Wales u18s against the Czech Republic on Wednesday, helping them to keep a clean sheet.
