Timo Werner to be given the number 11 jersey at Chelsea

According to the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea will hand new signing Timo Werner the number 11 jersey.

Chelsea confirmed that the Germany international will be arriving at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season after agreeing a £47.5m deal with RB Leipzig.

Werner scored 32 goals in 43 appearances for RB Leipzig this season. He signed a five-year deal worth just over £170,000-a-week. (h/t Daily Telegraph)

Currently occupied by Pedro, the German should have no problem obtaining when he joins us in the summer.

The Spaniard’s contract expires at the end of this month. With a move to Roma on the cards, he has already informed Frank Lampard that he will not play for Chelsea again.

If one is to believe in omens, the number has brought Werner luck in the past. A promising striker at Stuttgart, he moved to Leipzig in 2016.

Donning the number 11, he has failed to hit the 20-goal mark just once in his four seasons at the club. In contrast, he scored a total of 14 goals in his three years at Stuttgart. (h/t Transfermarkt)
