The Chivas board will have to decide whether or not to extend King Midas’ stay in Guadalajara this summer.

They will have to make their decision based on two big things: their long-term project and the late-season results delivered, which allowed Chivas to make the post-season for the second season in a row.

Obviously, it will be very concerning that Víctor Manuel Vucetich’s sides have started each of the last two seasons extremely poorly, causing the club to fall far below expectations and requiring them to make necessary late-season sprints.

However, it can’t be denied that, at their best, Chivas look like one of Mexico’s top sides, which showed mightily in last season’s play-offs, especially in the quarter-finals against Club América.

The squad is undoubtedly talented and have the potential to deliver silverware and King Midas is content with thinking about the long term.

When asked about his immediate future, he said: “For me, it is not a situation that is a question of results.

“For me, it is a job that can be carried out in a coordinated way, perfecting, and growing with clear objectives. This may happen over time.

“For me, it is not the time to talk something, although I have an extraordinary communication with Ricardo Peláez and with Amaury in relation to potentially staying and everything that may come.

“I think it is not the time (to talk about it), at least for me.”

In his 35 games in charge of Chivas, Vucetich has led his side to 14 wins, 13 draws, and only eight defeats.
