Having picked up just five points from their opening six Eredivisie games, Ajax are in desperate need of a victory. Maurice Steijn is a man under pressure as his side are currently 16th in the table. Steijn nevertheless is looking forward to the match and has a good feeling. ‘The international break was good for me and the staff. We continued training with a small group, because most of the people were gone. I have watched many matches of us, FC Utrecht and our internationals. I saw beautiful things there and that is positive. They all played a lot of minutes.’

Steijn expects a ‘tough duel’, seeing as Utrecht are also in need of a victory. Ron Jans’ side are currently bottom of the league on three points, having picked up just one victory in their opening eight matches. Utrecht vs Ajax kicks off on Sunday at 11:15am BST at the Stadion Galgenwaard.
