Premier League clubs Leicester City and Wolves are keeping tabs on Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, according to a Patreon report from journalist Alan Nixon.
Adapting to Championship football with the Black Cats very well, the 22-year-old has kept eight clean sheets in 29 league appearances, conceding 33 goals in the process.
Spending the majority of the first half of last season in a deputy position, Patterson became first-choice as the season progressed, helping to steer his side to the Championship.
Asked if he is good enough to step and providing his take on the situation, pundit Carlton Palmer told Football League World: “Well, I think he’s good enough to step up.
“He’s only 22. I’ve been very impressed with him. I’ve watched him on several occasions.
“Sunderland have put a £10 million price tag on him and I think any deal that would be done would be with a view to him coming back to Sunderland on loan.
“He’s still young and I think it’s important for his development that he doesn’t go and just sit on the bench somewhere.

“The two clubs are interested in him, I’m not sure Leicester would pay the 10 million but he would probably fancy his chances of dethroning Danny Ward as first-team goalkeeper.”
The verdict
Patterson has shown excellent levels of ability and maturity to remain to emerge as Sunderland’s number one across the back end of last season and during the first half of this campaign.
Still just 22 years of age, there is so much scope for the young goalkeeper to keep developing and he is on a steep upwards trajectory at The Stadium of Light.
As Palmer alludes to, the Premier League is an attractive prospect but game time and proximity to regular minutes has to be a high priority.
