West Ham United welcome Liverpool to the London Stadium in the Premier League on Wednesday looking to continue their recent impressive form.

The Hammers head into the midweek encounter on the back of an emphatic 4-0 victory over Bournemouth to put some daylight between themselves and the relegation zone.

Having lost just one of their last five games (W3, D1), David Moyes’ side could not have picked a better time to recapture their form, but they face another stern test with Liverpool storming east London.

Jurgen Klopp’s side ensured they remained within touching distance of the European places with a thrilling 3-2 victory over relegation-battling Nottingham Forest last weekend.

However, whether they can snatch a top-four place remains to be seen as they sit seventh in the Premier League standings, nine points off fourth-placed Manchester United, having played one more game.

After fighting back from two goals down to salvage a draw against Premier League leaders Arsenal, West Ham will fancy their chances of earning a result against a shaky Liverpool side.

The Hammers are looking to win consecutive league games for the first time since October, but they have only won two of their last 20 games against opponents starting the day in the top half of the table (D5, L13).

However, their recent home form could spur them to an unprecedented victory over the Reds, having lost just one of their last seven games on home turf (W3, D3), scoring at least once in each match.

The Hammers won this fixture 3-2 last season and would hope to win consecutive home league matches against Liverpool for the first time since 2015/16.

Liverpool continued their form in front of goal against the struggling Forest, but Klopp would not have been proud of his side’s defending after being pegged back twice before Mohamed Salah fired the Reds to victory.

Having won consecutive league games, Liverpool will hope to make it three in a row against a West Ham side they have beaten in ten of their last 12 league meetings.

However, Klopp’s side have won just one of their six league away games against teams from the Spanish capital this season (D3, L2), last beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in November.

They could also win consecutive away league games for only the second time this season, having done so in November/December against Spurs and Aston Villa.

West Ham United vs Liverpool Potential Line-ups

West Ham United (4-3-3): Lucasz Fabianski; Vladimir Coufal, Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd, Aaron Cresswell; Tomas Soucek, Declan Rice, Lucas Paqueta; Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio, Said Benrahma.

Liverpool (4-3-3): Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil Van Dijk, Andrew Robertson; Curtis Jones, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson; Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota.

We Say: West Ham United 2-2 Liverpool

Both sides have endured a troubled campaign but still have plenty to fight for as we approach the business end of the season.

Forest could be the blueprint West Ham use to hurt Liverpool, but both sides should settle for an entertaining goal-glutted share of the spoils.
