Chelsea will be hoping to finally secure their place in the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals by recording a positive result against VfL Wolfsburg at the AOK Stadion on Thursday evening.

The Blues are three points clear of The She-Wolves going into the final group game while the two sides played out a 3-3 draw in the reverse fixture at Kingsmeadow back in October.

VfL Wolfsburg head coach Tommy Stroot has confirmed that goalkeeper Almuth Schult is fit and a decision will be made on whether to play her or Lisa Weiß in goal. Svenja Huth and Shanice van de Sanden have overcome injuries and will be available for selection but fellow forward Alexandra Popp is out.

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes confirmed in the pre-match press conference that goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger and midfielder Drew Spence have not travelled with the squad to Germany with the pair having tested positive for COVID-19. Maren Mjelde and Lauren James continue to follow their respective fitness plans and will not be available for selection.

The UEFA Women’s Champions League group fixture between VfL Wolfsburg and Chelsea kicks-off at 8pm on Thursday evening. Chelsea fans from the UK are not permitted to attend the match, however, the game can be streamed live on DAZN.
