Liverpool boss Matt Beard will come up against his former club this afternoon when The Reds take on West Ham United at Prenton Park.

Beard was The Hammers’ first full-time manager when the club were awarded a top tier licence back in 2018. He led the club to the Vitality Women’s FA Cup final in 2018/2019 and helped the team to establish themselves as a Barclays Women’s Super League outfit. Beard spent more than two years with the East Londoners before leaving the club in November 2020 by mutual consent.

Beard’s current club Liverpool go into this afternoon’s fixture unbeaten in their last two Barclays Women’s Super League matches. The Reds continue to be without last season’s top scorer Leanne Kiernan who is recovering from ankle surgery but goalkeeper Rachael Laws is fit following her recent injury. Defender Gilly Flaherty is set to appear against her former club.
