PREVIEW: Liverpool v Everton

Article image:PREVIEW: Liverpool v Everton

Liverpool and Everton will contest a fascinating Merseyside derby fixture in front of a sizeable crowd at Anfield this evening.

Fans of both clubs are understood to have snapped up tickets in their numbers in the lead up to the match with Liverpool potentially set to play in front of their biggest-ever crowd for a women’s fixture.

After defeating Barclays Women’s Super League champions Chelsea last weekend, Liverpool arguably go into the match as the favourites. The Reds are without the services of last season’s top scorer Leanne Kiernan with the player needing surgery on an injury sustained in the Chelsea match while summer signing Shanice van de Sanden is also out. Loanee Charlotte Wardlaw is available once again after being ineligible to face her parent club on opening day.

Everton manager Brian Sørensen could offer a debut to summer signing Karen Holmgaard if she proves that she is fit enough for selection. Aggie Beever-Jones is set to miss out with a knock while Toni Duggan and Clare Wheeler remain sidelined with their respective injuries.

The Barclays Women’s Super League fixture between Liverpool and Everton is scheduled to kick-off at 6.45pm. Tickets have been removed from sale and are no longer available to purchase.
