Another Yorkshire derby for the Whites

Leeds United Women host another Yorkshire derby this weekend, as Bradford City Women are the visitors to the So-Trak Stadium.

The Whites were victorious on Wednesday night, beating neighbours York City Ladies 2-0 thanks to goals from top scorer Abbie Brown and the impressive Jess Rousseau.

Bradford currently occupy 11th place in the table, the second relegation spot. However, they have boosted their survival hopes in recent weeks with two victories over tenth-placed Chorley. They are now within three points of the Magpies with two games in hand so will be eyeing another win to move out of the relegation zone.

Leeds returned to winning ways with a strong performance on Wednesday night and will be looking to back that up with another victory, ahead of next weekend’s FA Women’s National League Plate Final against Stourbridge.

The Whites claimed all three points in the reverse fixture back in October. Laura Bartup’s first half brace put Leeds in a commanding lead, Emma Elliot halved the deficit from the spot on 75 minutes but Leeds held on.

Players to watch:

Bradford have struggled for goals all season, with only bottom club Merseyrail (10), scoring fewer than their 13.

12 of those have been split between Arianne Parnham and Charlotte Stuart who have six each.

Rick Passmoor was pleased with his side’s front three in Wednesday night’s win over York and he has a healthy selection dilemma in attacking areas ahead of Sunday; with Brown, Rousseau, Macy Ellis and Amy Woodruff all vying for a start. That quartet has 31 Leeds goals between them in all competitions.
