Portman Road will stage one of Tuesday night’s standout Championship fixtures as Ipswich Town take on Watford in what promises to be a closely contested encounter.
Kieran McKenna’s side sit ninth in the table with 19 points and come into the game full of confidence after an emphatic 4-1 victory away at QPR. The Tractor Boys have made an encouraging start to the campaign and will be eager to continue their push towards the play-off places.
Watford, meanwhile, are just a point and a place behind their hosts. Javi Gracia’s men recorded an impressive 3-0 win over Middlesbrough last time out and will be aiming to build on that momentum as they look to climb further up the standings.
The sides shared a goalless draw in their previous meeting, and with both in good form, another tight and entertaining contest could be on the cards at Portman Road.
Adam Wilkin (Blue Monday): A first away win of the season has finally been ticked off the list and it was done in some style with a comfortable 4-1 result against QPR.
Jack Taylor has provided some much needed defensive stability in midfield and Marcelino Nunez looks to be the missing piece to aid the link up with the wings in the '10'
The worries for this one are that both Leif Davis and George Hirst came off late on against QPR with hamstring problems whilst Ivan Azon is also carrying a knock which could see Chuba Akpom end up leading the line.
It shows what a topsy turvy league it is right now that Watford comfortably beat Middlesbrough at the weekend but the Hornets certainly have a squad loaded with young talent. I think it will be a tough game at Portman Road but i'm continuing my prediction streak of 1-0 victories.
