Whites back in league action.

Leeds United Women have a chance to extend their unbeaten run to four matches as they travel across the Pennines to face FC United on Manchester in a rearranged clash this Thursday, after the original tie fell foul of the weather last month.

Simon Wood’s side bounced back from a narrow defeat away at Durham Cestria with a resounding 5-1 victory over York City, with in-form striker Jess Rousseau grabbing a hat-trick under the lights in Garforth.

Despite enjoying the majority of possession against Norton & Stockton Ancients, the Teessiders’ defence held firm to frustrate the Whites, who had to settle for a goalless draw in their next fixture.

Last time out, United battled back from a goal down to earn a well-deserved point against a physical Barnsley side, with captain Olivia Smart getting on the scoresheet for the Whites.

Those results leave Leeds fifth in the FAWNL Division One North standings, and Wood's side know they can move level on points with third-placed Durham Cestria should they win their three games in hand.

It has been a tough season for Jennie Swarbrick’s FC United side after after winning promotion from the North West Women’s Regional League last campaign, currently languishing at the bottom of the league with just one win in 19 matches so far.

The Reds are only five points from safety however and will keen to build on last week's performance where they were narrowly beaten 2-1 by top of the table Middlesbrough.

The two sides have already met once this season, with goals from Smart, Rousseau, Charlyann Pizzarello and Kath Smith firing the Whites to an emphatic 4-1 October win at the Bannister Prentice Stadium.

Action from Broadhurst Park gets underway at 7:45pm.
