PREVIEW: Everton v Manchester United | OneFootball

New Everton manager Jean-Luc Vasseur will be looking to record his first Barclays FA Women’s Super League victory when The Blue Girls take on Manchester United at Walton Hall Park on Sunday.

Everton have endured a tough start to the season, losing four of their first six Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches, winning just two. Meanwhile, Manchester United have enjoyed a better start but are winless in their last two games, drawing against neighbours Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

In terms of team news, Everton remain without long term absentee Nicoline Sørensen while Manchester United pair Jackie Groenen and Millie Turner are sidelined.

No side has failed to score in more Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches this season than Everton. New boss Vasseur will be hoping to change the fortunes of his new side and hopefully get the goals flowing. Everton haven’t scored with their last 24 efforts at goal in the top flight with 11 different players attempting a shot in this time without finding the net.

Manchester United will be looking to try to close in on the sides at the top of the league. The Red Devils currently sit eight points adrift of leaders Arsenal and four points off second-placed side Chelsea.

After back-to-back draws in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, Manchester United boss Marc Skinner will be looking to get back to winning ways. He will be hoping that he can again rely on forward Alessia Russo who has been involved in a goal every 73 minutes in Barclays FA Women’s Super League and has scored in each of her last two appearances. Russo’s teammate Ella Toone will be hoping to continue her good record against Everton. In three starts against the Merseyside club, the forward has been directly involved in five goals, scoring three herself and providing two assists.

Everton have lost their last four league games against Manchester United, conceding at least twice in every defeat. Goals from Toone and Kirsty Hanson helped Manchester United to victory last time out at the Leigh Sports Village.
