PREVIEW: England v Latvia

England will be hoping to make it six wins out of six in FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 qualifying when they face Latvia at The Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster this evening.

The Lionesses have scored 33 goals and conceded zero so far with the Sarina Wiegman era getting off to a truly wonderful start.

England head coach Wiegman sent forward Nikita Parris home early from camp with the player given extra time to rest. The Lionesses remain without Ellie Roebuck, Lucy Bronze, Steph Houghton and Leah Williamson through injury. Wiegman is expected to name a similar side to the one which beat Austria 1-0 in Sunderland on Saturday but she will add an additional forward to her line-up with Chelsea’s Beth England or Manchester United’s Alessia Russo possibly set to come in.

Latvia arrive in England having lost all four FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 qualifiers and their last 15 matches in total. Latvian head coach Romāns Kvačovs did not call-up experienced quintet Karlīna Miksone, Anastasia Ročāne, Olga Ševcova, Renāte Fedotova and Enija Anna Vaivode this time around for various reasons. Kvačovs could hand debuts to up to eight players including defender Anna Gornell who plays her football in the second tier in Sweden.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 qualifier between England and Latvia in Doncaster kicks-off at 7pm. Tickets remain on sale and can be purchased by clicking here or by visiting the box office at The Keepmoat Stadium.
