Eintracht face a PAOK FC side who also started their Group G campaign with a win. The hosts have a fine home record but the Eagles have fond memories of the teams’ last encounter.
Eintracht Frankfurt take on PAOK FC in their second UEFA Europa Conference League Group G match on Thursday 5 October. The game at the Toumba Stadium kicks off at 21:00 CEST.
The backdrop
Like the Eagles, PAOK also won their first group encounter of the season. While Eintracht edged to a 2-1 home victory over Aberdeen, Razvan Lucescu’s side beat HJK Helsinki 3-2 away from home.
The Thessaloniki outfit and Eintracht are locked together on three points at the top of Group G. PAOK are also flying high in the Greek Super League, the 2-2 at Panathinaikos FC in their last league game leaving them second in the table after seven matchdays.
Impressive form PAOK are unbeaten in seven European games this season, registering five wins and two draws (including qualifying). The three-time Greek champions, who have also lifted the Greek Cup on eight occasions, have kept a clean sheet in each of their three home European games in 2023/24.
Looking back
Thursday’s encounter is not the first time these clubs have locked horns, having previously faced each other in the first round of the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1981. Both sides won 2-0 on home soil but Eintracht triumphed in the penalty shootout to progress to the next round.
