The two clubs are the underdogs of Group A with three top tier sides making up the remainder of the group, those being Manchester United, Everton and Aston Villa.
Durham go into their latest match without the services of defender Georgia Robert who is suspended following her dismissal in the club’s 3-0 defeat at London City Lionesses last weekend. Sarah Wilson and Lauren Briggs are again expected to be unavailable for selection. Given the fact that this game falls before an international break, manager Lee Sanders could opt to field a strong XI.
Sheffield United head coach Neil Redfearn is not thought to have any fresh injury concerns to contend with. Midfielders Sophie Barker and Lara Miller are likely to be the only absentees. It is unknown whether Redfearn will implement some squad rotation given how well his side have started the new Barclays Women’s Championship season. A surprise promotion push could be the priority for the South Yorkshire club.
The FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup fixture between Durham and Sheffield United kicks-off at 12pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets are on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
