Both teams are bidding for domestic doubles with Chelsea having won the Barclays FA Women’s Super League title and Manchester City having lifted the FA Women’s Continental League Cup. The two clubs are in fine form with Chelsea having won their last 11 games while Manchester City are bidding for a 14th consecutive victory.
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes confirmed in her pre-match press conference that forward Fran Kirby is available for selection following illness. The player has had a great week in training and could even make a dramatic return to the starting XI. The Blues have no injury concerns following their 4-2 victory over Manchester United last weekend.
Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor remains without long term absentees Karen Bardsley, Esme Morgan and Steph Houghton. Full-back Demi Stokes and attacker Jess Park are both in contention for places in the squad while Vicky Losada is fit after recently overcoming her niggling injury.
