Chelsea have won the competition in each of the last two seasons while Manchester City are the FA Women’s Continental League Cup’s second most successful club after Arsenal.
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has confirmed that captain Magda Eriksson will return to the side after overcoming a recent injury. Maren Mjelde will also be a member of the squad, although game time is highly unlikely for the Norwegian international. Erin Cuthbert continues to nurse a hamstring injury and will miss out while Melanie Leupolz is still recovering from long COVID.
There is no major news on the injury front in the Manchester City camp. The Cityzens remain without long term absentees Karen Bardsley, Karima Benameur Taieb, Esme Morgan, Steph Houghton and Chloe Kelly. Vicky Losada could face a late fitness test with the player carrying a knock but Laura Coombs is fit.
The 2021/2022 FA Women’s Continental League Cup final kicks-off at 5.15pm on Saturday evening. Tickets for the match have now sold out but the game can be seen live on BBC Two.
