PREVIEW: Charlton Athletic v Crystal Palace

Article image:PREVIEW: Charlton Athletic v Crystal Palace

Charlton Athletic will be hoping to keep their slim FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup qualification hopes alive when they take on London rivals Crystal Palace at The Oakwood on Wednesday evening.

The Addicks go into the match three points adrift of group leaders Lewes with one group stage fixture remaining. Karen Hills’ side also have a significantly worse goal difference meaning that they need to go for goals against Crystal Palace.

Charlton Athletic head coach Hills will again be without the services of long-term absentees Hannah Godfrey and Tegan McGowan while midfielder Lois Roche is not yet ready to return. The Addicks boss will need to carefully balance her team selection with some big games in the Barclays Women’s Championship also on the horizon.

Crystal Palace manager Dean Davenport is likely to rest a number of his key players with The Eagles now unable to reach the quarter-finals. Natalia Negri seems set to retain her place in goal while the likes of Ellie Noble, Anna Filbey, Shauna Guyatt and Paige Bailey-Gayle could come in for starts. Leigh Nicol, Aimee Everett, Isabella Sibley and Rianna Dean will all again be unavailable for selection.

The FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup group stage match between Charlton Athletic and Crystal Palace kicks-off at 7.30pm on Wednesday evening.
