PREVIEW: Bristol City v Durham

Article image:PREVIEW: Bristol City v Durham

Bristol City will be hoping to build on their two-game unbeaten run in the FA Women’s Championship when they face Durham at The Robins High Performance Centre this afternoon.

The Robins, relegated from the Barclays FA Women’s Super League last season, have started life in the second tier with a win, a draw and defeat. This afternoon’s opponents Durham have had a similar start to Bristol City having collected points from two of their three opening games. The Wildcats do have two points on the board more than The Robins though courtesy of their two wins.

Bristol City head coach Lauren Smith was proud of her side’s action-packed draw against Liverpool last time out. Goalkeeper Fran Bentley made some key saves to keep The Robins in the game and head coach Smith will be hoping that reliability from the back will continue this afternoon. One player who Bristol City will be without is defender Brooke Aspin who is suspended following her red card at Liverpool.

Goals from Kathryn Hill and Beth Hepple helped Durham to a 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic in their last game. The Wildcats are still without striker Nicki Gears who remains sidelined with a long-term injury.
