The Bundesliga fixtures continue on Sunday as Bayern Munich welcome Stuttgart to the Allianz Arena for a mouthwatering clash.
Bayern’s title hopes suffered a blow with a 5-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt, but the impressive Champions League victory over Manchester United in midweek will have restored confidence.
Bayern were unbeaten in the German top-flight when they travelled to Frankfurt last weekend. However, the defending champions were stunned by their opponents at the Deutsche Bank Park.
However, Thomas Tuchel’s side showed a good response in their midweek Champions League fixture against Manchester United.
They dominated the game to come away with a 1-0 success thanks to a late goal from Kingsley Coman.
Stuttgart have enjoyed an excellent start to the season and are currently one of the top contenders for a top-four finish.
They are third in the Bundesliga table after registering 10 wins from 14 matches. Stuttgart enter Sunday’s away encounter on the back of a 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen last week.
The visitors looked to be in the ascendancy after Chris Fuhrich scored five minutes before the break. But Florian Wirtz equalised to ensure the spoils of the game were shared.
Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel has several injury woes this weekend. Noussair Mazraoui picked up a knock against United and will miss out on Sunday.
Matthijs de Ligt, Bouna Sarr and Serge Gnabry will also be out of action due to fitness issues.
Hiroki Ito is suffering from a muscular issue and will not be available for Stuttgart this weekend. Lilian Egloff, Luca Raimund and Nikolas Nartey are also doubtful.
Bayern Munich: Neuer; Laimer, Upamecano, Kim, Guerreiro; Kimmich, Goretzka, Musiala; Sane, Kane, Coman
Stuttgart: Nubel; Stenzel, Rouault, Zagadou, Mittelstadt; Millot, Karazor, Fuhrich, Silas; Guirassy, Undav
Stuttgart are quite capable of pulling off a surprise result at the Allianz Arena. They held Leverkusen to a 1-1 draw last week and will be hoping for another encouraging result at Bayern.
But given the quality of BAyern’s squad, the home side should comfortably win this weekend.
Bayern Munich 2-0 Stuttgart.
