Manchester City will be hoping to build on their excellent recent results when they travel to The Banks’s Stadium to take on Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Cityzens have won their last four matches in all competitions while they have scored 19 goals in the process.

Aston Villa find themselves in 10th position in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table. Head coach Carla Ward is keen to see an improvement in her side’s league position in 2022, however, Aston Villa go into their first match of the year without nine players. Emily Gielnik is away on international duty while Remi Allen, Ramona Petzelberger and Elisha N’Dow are amongst the other players who are either sidelined by injury or recovering from COVID-19.

Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor is expected to have Laura Coombs available for selection once again with the player having overcome a knee injury. Goalkeeper Karima Benameur Taieb could return while forward Khadija Shaw may be ready for some minutes. Midfielder Caroline Weir remains a doubt while Hayley Raso and Alanna Kennedy are away on international duty. Long term absentees Ellie Roebuck, Karen Bardsley, Esme Morgan and Chloe Kelly are still out.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Aston Villa and Manchester City kicks-off at 12.30pm on Saturday with admission available on the turnstiles.
