Chelsea are preparing to face Aston Villa once again in the Carabao Cup tonight, but their last meeting in the league just some weeks ago was quite special for one Chelsea player in particular.

It was the 100th Chelsea appearance for academy graduate, Callum Hudson-Odoi, which at the age of just 20, really is quite an amazing achievement.

He might not be enjoying as much game time recently as he would like to be, but to have played 100 times now for the club he has been at since he was just a boy, is a very special achievement for him.

He has been reacting to this achievement to the Chelsea website, but he admits that he was actually surprised that the 100th appearance came against Aston Villa, saying he knew it was soon since his brother had told him, but he didn’t know it was this soon.

Time flies when you’re having fun!

Hudson-Odoi said:

“I got told a couple of times by my brother that I was pretty close,’ he said. ‘I didn’t know it was that game specifically so when I found out, it was a bit of a surprise but a happy feeling for me as well.

“I was buzzing about it but the fact we won on the day was more important. It was a good result but obviously making 100 appearances for this club is pretty special too.

“It was a dream of mine to get the opportunity to play my first game for Chelsea, coming on against Newcastle, and 100 appearances later has just gone so quick.

“It’s a crazy feeling when you’re in the Academy and thinking about playing just one game for Chelsea, to see the atmosphere and how it is to play on the pitch.

“So to play 100 games for the club that you’ve wanted to play for from the beginning is an amazing feeling.
