The striker has impressed since his January transfer and could be on the move again this summer
Preston North End and Swansea City are both interested in signing St Johnstone striker Adama Sidibeh this summer.
That's according to a report from Football Insider, who say that the Championship pair are set to scout the 26-year-old on Monday night, when his side take on Aberdeen in their Scottish Premiership opener.
Sidibeh only joined St Johnstone back in the January transfer window, when he signed from English non-league side Warrington Rylands.
He then went on to score five goals in 15 games for his new side at the end of last season, helping them to avoid relegation from the Scottish Premiership.
That form earned him his first senior international call-up for Gambia over the summer, where he scored on debut in a World Cup qualifying win over the Seychelles.
Now it seems as though that form, has prompted plenty of interest in the 26-year-old, with less than a month to go until the transfer window closes.
St Johnstone are set to begin their new Scottish Premiership campaign on Monday night, when they host Aberdeen at McDiarmid Park.
It also appears as though there will be some interested observers present, to keep an eye on the progress of Sidibeh.
As per this latest update, with both Swansea and Preston both still keen on the forward, they are set to watch that game, as they consider making a move for the striker.
It is thought that a number of other clubs will also scout the 26-year-old during that match, including St Johnstone's divisional rivals Hibernian - the Edinburgh club finished last season eighth in the final Scottish Premiership standings.
For their part, Preston and Swansea ended the 2023/24 campaign 10th and 14th in the Championship table respectively.
So far this summer, Preston have made two first-team signings, while three new players have been added to the senior squad at Swansea.
As things stand, there are two years remaining on Sidibeh's contract with St Johnstone, securing his future at McDiarmid Park until the end of the 2025/26 season.
That ensures the Scottish Premiership side do have some scope to negotiate any offers that come in for the striker in what remains of the transfer window.
Preston are due to begin their 2024/25 campaign on Friday 9th August, when they host Sheffield United at Deepdale.
Swansea then kick-off a day later, as they make the trip to The Riverside Stadium to take on Middlesbrough.
There is an argument that it is hard to know exactly how things would go for one of these clubs, if they did complete the signing of Sidibeh.
On the one hand, both teams do look as though they could benefit from the addition of an extra source of goals for the coming campaign.
In that respect, the signs are promising from Sidibeh, given his record since joining St Johnstone earlier this year.
However, that is still a very small sample size after a big step up from non-league football, and it remains to be seen whether he would be able to maintain over the course of a whole campaign.
As a result, this is certainly not a potential signing that would be without any sort of risk for interested clubs.
With that in mind, it does seem to make sense for Preston and Swansea to scout Sidibeh first before making a move, then they have an even clearer idea of the type of player they might be getting, although you have to argue that Swansea are seemingly more in need of a striker, given PNE have Emil Riis, Will Keane, Milutin Osmajic, Layton Stewart and Ched Evans on the books.
