Preston North End are in advanced talks to sign midfielder Josh Onomah, according to a report from Football Insider.
It is understood that Onomah’s contract at Fulham is set to be cancelled by mutual consent and thus the Lilywhites will not have to pay a fee in order to complete a deal for him.
The 25-year-old was on the verge of joining West Bromwich Albion during the previous transfer window.
However, a proposed move collapsed in the final stages of deadline day.
After helping Fulham achieve promotion to the Premier League last season by featuring on 20 occasions in the Championship, Onomah has been unable to make an impact for the club during the current term.
Limited to just two appearances in the top-flight due to the presence of Joao Palhinha and Harrison Reed, the midfielder will be hoping to feature on a regular basis for Preston if he makes the move to Deepdale.
The Lilywhites have already engaged in a reasonable amount of transfer activity this month.
In terms of incomings, Preston have managed to secure the services of Liam Delap and Tom Cannon on loan deals from Manchester City and Everton.
Ryan Lowe meanwhile recently opted to part ways with Sean Maguire who sealed a permanent switch to Championship rivals Coventry City.

The Verdict
If this report turns out to be correct, it will be interesting to see whether Preston are able to convince Onomah to make the move to the club.
When you consider that Onomah has a proven track-record when it comes to delivering the goods in the Championship, he could prove to be a useful addition to Preston’s squad.
The midfielder has provided 21 direct goal contributions in the 103 appearances that he has made in the second-tier during his career to date and will be confident in his ability to add to this tally in a Lilywhites shirt over the course of the coming months.
By producing some assured displays for Preston, Onomah could potentially help the club in their pursuit of a top-six finish.
