Preston North End are said to have agreed a deal with Halifax Town for Jamie Thomas to head out on loan, as per a recent report by Football Insider.

The Lilywhites are said to be open to seeing the 25-year-old exit the club this month, with it being said that the forward is now set to spend the rest of the season on loan with the National League promotion contenders.

Thomas has slipped down the pecking order at Deepdale this term and is yet to feature for his side in the Sky Bet Championship as he continues to attempt to unearth some much needed opportunities.

The attacker previously signed a one year deal with the club over the summer after an impressive trial but is since yet to have been used by the club’s now manager Ryan Lowe.

Yes No

A signing of former North End boss Franke McAvoy, Thomas now appears set to return to the non league circuit after previously turning out for the likes of Squires Gate, AFC Blackpool, and Bamber Bridge.

The Verdict

This is a great move for Thomas, who really needs to resurrect his career after a tough season so far with the Lancashire outfit.

He was ultimately signed as a bit of an experimental addition and has since struggled to hit the levels that North End perhaps expected of him.

The departure of McAvoy hasn’t helped his cause either and it would appear that Lowe isn’t prepared to let him have much in the way of game time moving forwards.

It is for that reason that a move to the National League with Halifax is best for all parties concerned as the 25-year-old looks to get back to playing regular football again after struggling to make the grade at Preston since signing for the club.
