Juventus Women win the sixth Scudetto in their history beating Milan 2-0 in Biella.

We catch up on the excitement felt by some of the players as well as the thoughts of coach Massimiliano Canzi.

MASSIMILIANO CANZI

‘The girls were fantastic and it was an amazing night. I’d never been able to coach at this level before and winning a Scudetto is a dream. From an emotional point of view, what I’m feeling tonight is incredible. First of all I have to thank the club for giving me this great opportunity, my family, my loved ones. Girelli? I have no words to describe Cristiana, she made herself available from day one, she trained like never before. I’ve been doing this job for 40 years, but I’ve never felt emotions like these. Now’s the time to celebrate, then comes the time to focus again on the next goal. I think this is Girelli’s tenth Scudetto, how can you not admire a player like that?’

CRISTIANA GIRELLI

‘We wanted this victory in front of our fans, we wanted to end it here. It's a Scudetto that tastes different from the others, it tastes like revenge and it means a lot. For those who were here for the last two seasons, it wasn’t easy to see others celebrating. Today we’re overjoyed. A special dedication? I dedicate this title to my mum, it’s for her. My second dedication is to all of us, especially to those who have played less because when you win a championship in this way all the players in the squad are fundamental. This year there have been difficulties, undoubtedly. With the defeats against Fiorentina and Inter there could have been a major drop, but we showed great character and against Roma we played a great game and today we deservedly won this Scudetto. We’ll enjoy this success and are happy to have brought it home with several days to spare. Then we'll think about the Coppa Italia, another goal’.

BARBARA BONANSEA

‘Being all together here celebrating makes me really proud. Seeing all my teammates happy, especially the younger ones, is really gratifying. We’ve worked so hard this year and these moments repay the sacrifice of every single training session. At Juventus everyone expects you to win, always. When it doesn't happen it's always difficult, but we also faced these moments with the right mindset, with the aim of getting back to unique moments like these. Now we'll try to finish up the championship in the best possible way and then we'll focus on the Coppa Italia final against Roma’.

SOFIA CANTORE

‘Certainly compared to the previous Scudetti I won with Juventus when I was younger, I had less space: this one is different, but honestly I don't feel this big difference. For me the special thing is to lift a trophy together with a group of teammates who are close-knit: I felt like I played an important role, but as far as I’m concerned it's everyone's Scudetto. Before I was stubborn about trying to improve aspects of the game that weren’t 100 per cent for me, but at a certain point you understand what your strengths are and if you know how to use them, you become much more effective. I’ve put in this work and I’m also proud on a personal level: several times I’d focused too much on application and not enough on leaving room for fun; I function best when I can also find a bit of light-heartedness. The fundamental component of the season has been the group: I know it seems obvious, but being able to play with all these girls around me is the biggest joy’.

SARA GAMA

‘This is the “we never went away” Scudetto. In these two years we’ve rebuilt the identity of this club and as a result the value of this team has always been clear. I used to get angry when we couldn’t prove it, now I'm overjoyed because everyone has seen it all now. This Scudetto has a very unique flavour – it’s special. When you win it’s always special. This group has plenty of room for growth and I am really happy about that. Those who have been here for a long time have once again demonstrated their value, and those who arrived at the start of the season or a few months ago have immediately stepped perfectly into the role. The facts speak for themselves – we’ve worked very hard. This group is the perfect mix of veterans and young girls with a lot of desire. My future? At the moment I plan to celebrate, a lot, with my teammates’.
