In collaboration with the long-term partners Nike, the Premier League has announced the fourth edition of the Nike Flight ball will make its official debut in competitive action when England’s top-flight returns on Friday, August 11.

Perennial champions Manchester City and last season’s Championship winners Burnley will be the first sides to put the new ball to the test when they lock horns at Turf Moor.

With a white base used for the ball, the new design brings a fresh look with splashes of orange, black and purple, replacing the previous red, gold and blue colours.

The new Nike 2023/24 ball maintains the same technology as last season.

Featuring Nike Aerowsculpt technology, it is designed with molded grooves and a grippy texture to minimise unpredictable ball movement, allowing players better control and accuracy in placing their shots.

The 2022/23 version of the ball paid homage to the original Mitre ball used in the early years of the Premier League. It featured gold arrows encircling the ball, reminiscent of the classic design from 1992 to 1995.

However, the colour scheme for the upcoming season will undergo a significant change, with Nike choosing a predominantly orange pattern, accompanied by accents of black and purple to complement it.

The upcoming campaign will mark Nike’s 24th consecutive season as the official supplier of the top-flight match ball, taking over from Mitre back in 2000.

In addition to Burnley, Sheffield United and Premier League debutants Luton Town will enjoy the privilege of playing with the Nike Flight ball after earning promotion last season.

Maybe the new ball will bring a change in fortunes to last season’s strugglers Chelsea or improve Arsenal’s bid to better a 2022/23 runner-up finish.
