Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham United are all interested in bringing former Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi back to the Premier League this summer.

Guendouzi has impressed since leaving Arsenal to sign for Marseille and has established himself as part of the France set-up, earning seven caps for Les Bleus since his international debut in 2021.

Guendouzi worked under Aston Villa manager Unai Emery at Arsenal, with the Spaniard having signed the midfielder during his first summer in charge in north London.

Guendouzi made 82 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, but was allowed to leave following an altercation with ex-Brighton forward Neal Maupay.

Mikel Arteta was critical of the midfielder’s attitude and Guendouzi was loaned to Hertha Berlin and Marseille before a £9m permanent move to the latter.

Newcastle and West Ham are also targeting midfield additions this summer, with the latter braced for summer interest in Declan Rice. The England international is expected to leave the London Stadium at the end of the season and has been linked with Arsenal.
